    Investors were met with a mixed market on Wednesday, as futures on the Nasdaq 100 (NDX), S&P 500 (SPX), and Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) opened down 0.14%, 0.22%, and 0.17%, respectively, at 4.30 a.m. EST.[0] By 9:39 a.m. EST, the Nasdaq 100 (NDX), S&P 500 (SPX), and Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) had dropped 0.4%, 0.32%, and 0.1%, respectively.[1] Meanwhile, futures on the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq 100 were trading in a range of 0.1%.[2]

    PayPal Holdings (PYPL) was particularly affected by the market, dropping more than -3% after Raymond James downgraded the stock to market perform from outperform.[3] Newmont (NEM) shares dropped by 4.8% after announcing its intention to purchase Newcrest Mining (NCMGY) through an all-stock deal.[4] The stock of Newcrest increased by more than 12% following the[4]

    After its quarterly report was released, Tyson Foods (TSN) saw a decrease in its stock price.[5] A sharp decline in profits was recorded compared to last year and it was significantly lower than what analysts had predicted.[6] Notable companies reporting earnings this week include Disney (DIS), BP (BP), PepsiCo (PEP), Uber (UBER), Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG), and AbbVie (ABBV).[4]

    Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury yield jumped 10 basis points to 3.63%.[7] The cost of oil increased, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rising by 0.7% to $73.93 per barrel.[8] Bed Bath & Beyond Inc (BBBY) shares fell 43% on Tuesday after the struggling home goods retailer announced plans to sell $1 billion in stock to raise cash.[9]
