Tesla Investor Day: What to Expect and Impact on the US Stock Market
By Tesla is set to hold its highly anticipated Investor Day on Wednesday, March 1.[0] CEO Elon Musk has teased plans to present his “Master Plan 3” at the event, which is expected to address the company's capital structure and a possible stock buyback policy.[1] While there is no expectation of any new product announcements, investors are hoping for more clarity surrounding Tesla's path to a fully sustainable energy future for Earth.
Analysts are predicting the possibility of Tesla unveiling its “generation 3” platform, which is expected to drastically reduce the cost of manufacturing and allow for a much cheaper mass-market Tesla.[0] Furthermore, the company may confirm plans for a long-awaited Model 3 refresh, providing details on the “Highland” upgrade.[2]
The U.S. stock market ended the week slightly lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.13%, and the S&P 500 index dipping 0.28%.[3] The Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.58%, but it rose 0.59% on the week, its sixth positive week in seven.[4]
With a big announcement expected at Tesla Investor Day, the stock market could be in for a surge of bullish energy. The CME Group's FedWatch indicates a 27% chance of a 50 basis point increase if the Fed reads faster readings.[5] Investors will be closely monitoring the event to see if the company's plans will push up the entire S&P 500.
