Texas Psychiatrist Helping to Demystify ADHD for Parents and Children
Texas psychiatrist Dawn Brown is helping to demystify Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for both parents and children. Brown, who was diagnosed with the neurological disorder herself at age 31, has developed a treatment plan which combines medication and behavior management, also known as ADHD coaching. This coaching helps kids to manage their time and develop other skills.[0]
Brown is adamant that ADHD is not caused by ‘bad' parenting, but instead is a predominantly genetic disorder which is more under-diagnosed than people think.[1] She states that it is the most studied medical condition but also the most misunderstood.
Uplift White Rock Hills Preparatory School teacher, Slater, is helping to combat the misunderstanding of ADHD by bringing an open mind and a heap of patience to her classroom, which currently consists of 27 students.
This is a critical step in demystifying ADHD and in helping children with the disorder learn to manage it.
